Gulfport Seeks Public Participation in Updating
20-Year Development Plan

GCN   10/21/08

The City of Gulfport has begun the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan--the primary policy guide for the City's growth, development, and conservation over the next 20 years.  Public workshops are being held to gather input from the community regarding their ideas for Gulfport's growth and development.

Several "big picture" themes will guide the City's work on the plan. Strategies presented in the plan will be designed to accomplish the following:

  • Grow the Economy. Expanding opportunity for city residents and attract quality investment.
  • Strengthen Neighborhoods. Building (and rebuilding) safe, sustainable, and livable neighborhoods.
  • Revitalize Downtown, Districts & Corridors. Creating vital, accessible, and attractive mixed use destinations.
  • Improve Access & Mobility. Designing effective, context-sensitive transportation solutions.
  • Leverage Assets. Conserving and celebrating the City's historic, cultural, and natural resources.
  • Provide Quality Facilities & Services. Ensuring the efficient, effective delivery of public services.
