FEMA Recovery Reports: Year Two

The Following Hurricane Katrina information was provided to GCN by the FEMA's  public information officials regarding their view of the progress dealing with the recovery from Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It's About Progress

• The first year could best be defined by Individual Assistance initiatives (such as temporary housing), and emergency measures to restore communications, utilities, remove debris.

• The second year the focus has shifted to Public Assistance and city-specific rebuilding efforts and forging strong FEMA/MEMA relationship.
