CableOne Internet Outage in Biloxi Thursday Allegedly
Caused by Ocean Springs Man Who Cut Line
Authorities have arrested an Ocean Springs man who is accused of damaging a fiber-optic line this past Thursday that is owned by CableOne. The damage caused the loss of Internet service and some television channels provided by CableOne to customers in Biloxi. The outage lasted from nearly noon Thursday to early Friday morning to many CableOne subscribers in the city.
Sompan Kongtippanya of Culeoka Drive, Ocean Springs allegedly cut and damaged nearly 700 feet of cable while illegally trying to gather copper wire along the Popps Ferry Causeway. Damages were estimated at nearly $45,000.
Police charged Kongtippanya with felony malicious mischief and he is being held under a $5,000 bond at the Harrison County jail.
