From: Keesler Public Information Office

Keesler officials are making changes to what gates are open to the base starting May 1st. One Keesler gate closes, one opens and the hours of operation for another changes.

"These changes are in part to help accommodate base-wide (post-Hurricane Katrina) reconstruction efforts and in part due to reduced manning in the 81st Security Forces Squadron," said Capt. David Mays, 81st SFS operations officer.  "They are effective until further notice."

The Oak Park Gate closes May 1.  It currently operates 5:30-7:30 a.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. work days.

Also May 1, the Judge Sekul Avenue Gate opens 3:30-5:30 p.m. on work days for out-bound traffic only.  This gate isn't in use at this time.

May 15, the Meadows Drive Gate is open 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. work days.  Currently, the gate is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Both the Judge Sekul and Meadows gates are closed weekends, federal holidays and compressed work schedule Fridays.

The White Avenue and Pass Road gates continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
