Keesler Medical Center remains unable to provide emergency services

Keesler Medical Center reminds everyone it currently is unable to provide emergency services. The base's hospital is still undergoing repairs from Hurricane Katrina.

A first aid station occupies the area once housing the emergency room.  It is open to Tricare Prime enrollees 7 a.m.-7 p.m. seven days a week.  The first aid station is only able to treat new, acute health care problems.  They do not have the capability to treat urgent and emergency problems.  Patients with urgent and emergent problems such as difficulty breathing, chest pain and abdominal pain should go to the nearest urgent care facility or emergency room for care.

Ambulance coverage for Keesler AFB is still available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the on-base 911 line.  Patients will be taken directly to off-base medical facilities by the contracted ambulance service.

Anyone with an emergency should go to the nearest local emergency room since, again, emergency services are not available in the first aid station.

Active-duty sick call at the first aid station is scheduled through the central appointment line, 1-800-700-8603.
