For the first time in modern history, the state Republicans have formed a House Republican Conference in the Mississippi House of Representatives. The conference will help state republicans coordinate the party's objectives at the state capital.

Representative Jim Simpson of Long Beach was elected by the Conference as its leader. In a news release from the Mississippi Republican Party Simpson said the group's main goal is to spread the Republican philosophy throughout the legislature.

"This group conferencing together will send a unified conservative message to the Democrat controlled House of Representatives.  Our main goal is to spread Republican philosophy throughout the legislature," said Simpson.

Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Jim Herring expressed, "I could not be more proud of this group of Republicans.  I compliment every one of them for their courage, conviction, and commitment to our Republican ideals."

Meanwhile, the Mississippi Republican Party has established a new website for Mississippi Republicans to get the latest information. It can be found at: http://www.msgop.org/
