State Auditor Announces Arrest of Jackson State Employee

State Auditor Phil Bryant announced Thursday the arrest of Sandreia Jones, a former Purchasing Agent with Jackson State University.  Jones was indicted by a Hinds County Grand Jury on December 13, 2006, on one (1) count embezzlement.

The indictment states that Jones committed the embezzlement between October 1, 2003, and August 13, 2004.  During this time, while working in the Office of Procurement Services at JSU, Jones “willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously” converted to her own use monies totaling $86,388.32.  Jones began her employment at Jackson State in August of 2001 and was terminated August 12, 2004.

The arrest was executed by Special Agents of the Investigative Division of the Office of State Auditor and deputies of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office.
