Teen Katrina Volunteer Died of Respiratory Impairment
Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus says the 16-year-old Katrina volunteer John Mark Adams from Cadiz, Kentucky died of respiratory impairment.
Adams passed away early Friday at First Presbyterian Church on Ingalls Avenue. He was on the Coast working on the church along with his father and brother. The family was working with volunteers from Crossroads Fellowship church from Cadiz.
According to authorities, the boy had been sleeping in a room with adults and youth volunteers when he apparently stopped breathing. Police reported that the incident was not the result of foul play.
Adams had arrived with his group the day before his death and had not yet started working on any homes in the area. When he failed to wake up Friday, he was taken to Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. An autopsy was performed.
