Design Work Underway for Biloxi City Buildings
The city now has design and engineering work underway on three city buildings, and design contracts in the works on six others.
Architects have been hired for repairs to the storm-damaged Old Brick House (Albert & Associates of Hattiesburg), East End Fire Station (Williams & Associates of Biloxi) and Back Bay Fire Station (Walter T. Bolton Associates of Biloxi). Photo right: Old Brick House
The city has design contracts in the works for repairs to the Magnolia Hotel, the Port Division administration building, the Biloxi Lighthouse, City Hall and the City Hall Annex. A contract also is in the works for design of a new Visitors Center to be situated north of the Biloxi Lighthouse.
Refurbishment, meantime, is continuing on the storm-ravaged Biloxi Community Center on Howard Avenue. The city hopes the new-and-improved facility will re-open in December. Contractor on the $2.3 million job is Starks Contracting of Biloxi. Design firm is Guild Hardy Architects, also of Biloxi.
The city is seeking FEMA and MEMA reimbursement for the majority of the costs involved in the projects.
