Keesler's BayBreeze Golf Course Reopens
From: Keesler A.F.B.   Filed 10/30/07 GCN

Keesler’s Bay Breeze Golf Course opens Friday, Nov. 2 at 8 a.m. for a ribbon cutting, followed by a shotgun start.  Col. Greg Touhill, 81st Training Wing commander, will host the opening ceremony.  The golf course has been closed since Hurricane Katrina.

The $4.5 million restoration project brings the course up to United States Golf Association standards.  “We are extremely happy with the results of the project,” said Tama Manu, Bay Breeze golf director.   Damages the course faced after Katrina were flooded greens, inches of silt and mud covering the course, dead grass from the salt water and hundreds of dead trees.   Open play begins at 1:30 p.m. and is open to all Department of Defense ID cardholders.
