Harrison County, MISS., Friday, October 5, 2007 — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is working to install a signal at U.S. Highway 90 and Bayview Drive in the Henderson Point community in Harrison County. Crews with Granite Archer Western (GAW) are installing the signal as part of the design-build project to reconstruct the Bay of St. Louis Bridge.
The signal will be operated in a yellow flashing mode through Thursday, October 11. Starting Friday, October 12, the signal will be fully operational to the driving public.
Recent traffic studies have shown that, traffic volume has increased due to the opening of two lanes of the Bay of St. Louis Bridge. Based on these studies it was determined that this intersection warranted signalization.
MDOT District Six Engineer Steve Twedt advises the public to exercise caution when traveling through the new signalized intersection.
“There will be several changes in traffic patterns through the remainder of the bridge construction project,” said Twedt. “We urge motorists to pay attention to construction signing and other traffic control devices within the project limits.”
