From: Office of the Mississippi Attorney General Filed
Attorney General Jim Hood today announced the arrest of Lance Fred Gagnier,
age 47, of Kiln, MS and Kissimmee, FL. Gagnier's arrest stems from a
warrant issued by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Bruce Roberts for
Misdemeanor Home Repair Fraud.
A complaint and affidavit filed by a Pass Christian resident alleges
Gagnier was paid over $3,300 as a down payment for kitchen counter tops
that were part of the remodeling of a home damaged during Hurricane
Katrina. According to the complaint Gagnier received payment in October of
2006, and never provided services to the victim. Investigators with the
Attorney General's office were assisted by The Pass Christian Police
"Co-operation between local, county and state law enforcement agencies is
key to fighting Home Repair Fraud," said Attorney General Jim Hood. "I
want the crooked contractors to know that every law enforcement agency on
the coast is watching, and if you rip off any of our residents, we will
catch you and we will prosecute you. Thanks to the hard work of the DA's,
County Attorneys, and City Prosecutors these cases are moving along well."
Gagnier was booked into the Harrison County Jail to be held until
posting a $1,000 bond.
