Pearl – Even though Mississippi received Individual Assistance for Hancock, Harrison and Washington counties with the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Gustav, the Disaster Food Stamp program is not being offered to any residents at this time.
The federal Individual Assistance programs include temporary housing assistance, grants for serious disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance and low-interest disaster loans from U.S. Small Business Administration.
People may apply for assistance online at www.fema.gov or by calling toll-free 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Those with a speech or hearing impairment should call TTY 1-800-462-7585. Telephone numbers and online registration services are available 24 hours a day, every day, until further notice.
