Biloxi Man Sentenced on Drug and Firearm Charges

Gulfport, Miss - Gary Oscar McGruder, 34, of Biloxi, was sentenced in federal court today to serve seven years in prison for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, U.S. Attorney John Dowdy announced.

McGruder received a sentence of 24 months in prison for the drug charge and five years in prison for the firearms charge, followed by three years of supervised release. Chief U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola also ordered McGruder to pay a fine of $3,000.00 and to forfeit the two firearms involved. McGruder has been in federal custody since his arrest on federal charges on July 1, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams.
