CTA Initiates New Service to Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport

Transportation for military personnel and their dependents is always difficult but now with gasoline at nearly $4.00 per gallon, the situation has become even more critical.  With those needs in mind, Coast Transit Authority is initiating new Fixed Route Express Service for the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide this service to our service men and women at the Seabee Base, and their families,”  said CTA Executive Director Kevin Coggin.  “We hope this simplifies and improves their lives during the time they are serving our country.”

The hours of operation will be from 4:55 p.m. – 9:47 p.m. on Fridays, 9:20 a.m. – 9:42 p.m. Saturdays, and 10:55 a.m. – 6:47 p.m. on Sundays.  The route will serve enlisted and family housing areas on NCBC and connect at the Gulfport Transit Center with routes to Edgewater Mall via Hwy 90.  From there travelers may make connections to other services in Biloxi and Ocean Springs.

This service is being offered free for the first month.  After that adult fare will be $1.00 per zone with special discounts available for public school students, seniors and disabled.  Passes are also available by the week or month.  For more information, please call CTA at 228-896-8080 or visit the CTA website at coasttransit.com.
