Jackson County Gordon Update

The Jackson County Office of Emergency Services has received no reports of injuries or any major reports of damage throughout the County.

There are reports of a few downed trees, limbs, and approximately 6100 residents lost power during the event. Crews are working diligently to restore power as soon as possible.

Considering there is some debris on roadways, residents are asked to stay off road as much as possible.
The Jackson County Office of Emergency Services is resuming normal operations at this time.


Waste Management is suspending residential garbage service for all municipal contracts (includes the unincorporated areas of Jackson County and the City of Moss Point) tomorrow, Wednesday, September 5th due to Tropical Storm Gordon.

The service schedule for the remainder of the week will be the following:

Residents’ whose solid waste is picked up Wednesday, we be picked up Thursday, September 6th
Residents’ whose solid waste is picked up Thursday, will be picked up Friday, September 7th
Residents whose solid waste is picked up Friday, will be picked up Saturday, September 8th


All Jackson County owned athletic complexes, parks, boat launches, piers are opened today, Wednesday, September 5th after noon. Whispering Pines Golf Course will be re-open tomorrow, Thursday, September 6th.
