Gulfport Beachfront Eyesore Being Removed
by Keith Burton - GCN 6/10/08
Since hurricane Katrina's devastation August 29, 2005 most of the
destruction debris has been removed, except in some areas. While there is
still miles of property that has not been redeveloped, one eyesore has
been the pilings for the former Chateau De Le Mer condominiums at the
corner of U.S. 90 and Cowan Road.
Contractors
were seen Tuesday beginning to tear down the concrete pilings that once
supported the condominium complex. Last year, the condo structures were
removed from the site but the supporting columns, looking like a modern
version of Stonehenge, were left standing. It won't be long when those too
will be gone.
