GCN's Keith Burton Returns from Knight Foundation Editorial Conference
Burton Selected as a Panelist for Seminar on the Editorial and the Internet Segment

Keith Burton, the Founder and Editor of GulfCoastNews.com, returned to the Coast Monday evening following a Knight Foundation conference and seminar currently being held at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Burton was invited by the foundation as an expert panelist to discuss how to improve public involvement with the editorial content of newspapers and web-only publications.

The Knight Foundation focuses on improving news and editorial in digital media. The conference was attended by news editors from newspapers and web media from around the country. Burton spoke during the event's Sunday afternoon session. He was among four other speakers at that session who are developing innovative ways to encourage public involvement in news and editorials online.

GulfCoastNews.com has been recognized as an innovative web-based news operation. GCN was the recipient of a national service journalism award in 2006 from the Online New Association for its GCN Katrina Survivor-Connector Database. The GCN database was the first-in-history web application for providing a way for Katrina evacuees to reconnect with their families and friends.
