MDOT's Bridge and Mayor's New Popps Ferry Bridge

MDOT’s Route H: The Mississippi Department of Transportation, responding to requests from the standing-room-only crowd of 300 or so at the Ward 6 meeting Tuesday, has provided an aerial photo that shows the proposed route of the roadway, which will travel from Interstate 10 at Woolmarket to U.S. 90 just east of Treasure Bay Casino Resort. Popp’s Ferry Bridge:  Mayor A.J. Holloway plans to soon seek City Council approval of an agreement in which MDOT acknowledges that the city will be responsible for overseeing the federally funded design and environmental work involving options to construct a satisfactory evacuation route to replace the Popp’s Ferry Bridge. The agreement has been in the works since Holloway was successful in obtaining $1.8 million to begin work on the bridge. Typically, federal transportation funds flow through MDOT.
