Waste Pro in Biloxi to Use Saturday as Catch-Up Day

From:  City of Biloxi   8/4/17   GCN

Waste Pro will have a contingent of trash trucks in Biloxi neighborhoods on Saturday, working to pick up any trash that may have been missed today or over the past few weeks.

Six rear-load trash trucks and as many as three trucks equipped with booms will be working neighborhoods, following up on today’s weekly trash pickup day, when 10 trucks canvass the city to pick up residential trash, such as lawn clippings and tree limbs that might not fit in typical garbage cans.

Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich on Thursday asked residents to haul trash to the curb for the Friday pickup to take advantage of the additional resources Waste Pro had committed to Biloxi.

Residents should not bring additional trash out Saturday since it’s merely a catch-up day; regular service will resume next Friday.

“Forty-nine-point-five percent of the complaints they receive from their countywide contract are from Biloxi,” Gilich said, “and as a result Waste Pro committed these additional resources to addresses issues. We’d like to see them get caught up.”

Waste Pro, under the terms of its contract with the Harrison County Utility Authority, will not pick up trash generated by private contractors or tree services. Also not included in the trash pickup are tires, refrigerators, air conditioners or any hazardous material.
